Description of the job

Role Name: Autism 1:1 Support Worker
Location: Brighton
Salary: £88.92 - £95 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time
Start Date: Immediately

We’re looking for a dedicated Autism 1:1 Support Worker to join a Brighton school and make a real difference for a pupil with autism.

About the School
This school prides itself on inclusive SEN provision and strong pupil wellbeing. Staff work closely with children to ensure everyone can access the curriculum, build confidence, and succeed academically and socially.

About the Role
You will provide one-to-one support, helping a pupil with autism access lessons, manage behaviour, and develop social and emotional skills. Your input will directly improve engagement, confidence, and learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised support for a pupil with autism throughout the school day

  • Assist with behaviour management and promote positive engagement

  • Implement SEN strategies in line with individual plans

  • Support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation

  • Help the pupil access lessons and activities effectively

  • Feed back progress to teachers and SEN staff

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience supporting pupils with autism or complex SEN needs

  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and SEN strategies

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Patience, empathy, and flexibility to respond to individual pupil needs

This role offers the chance to make a tangible impact on a pupil’s education and daily experience. Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
